Sit and Fly, Cry and Good Bye!

A couple from Boston were removed from an Airtran flight scheduled to fly from Ft Meyers to Boston because their three year old daughter could not be seated. The airline said they were only following FAA regulations.

Key West Powerboat Championships

It's that time of year again. The powerboats come to town to vie for the World Championship after a long season. The championships have been in Key West for over thirty years and everyone looks forward to the excitement and partying.

Captain Tony’s Saloon

Of all the bars in Key West, Captain Tony's Saloon contains more colorful history than any other. The oldest licensed bar operating in the State of Florida and the original Sloppy Joe's, the stories are plentiful.

Key West New Years 2008

I've heard that Key West is the third most popular travel destination for New Years Eve celebrations in the USA, only behind New York City and Las Vegas.  Based on the crowds last night, I am a believer!

Hurricane Season Again in Key West

Mile Marker 0 Trademarked?

It is sometimes amazing what happens in Key West. In the news yesterday it was reported that a company has filed lawsuits against other companies that manufacture the popular Key West souvenir, the green "Mile 0" road marker at the corner of Whitehead & Fleming streets.

The Meteor, The Twisted Dish, What Next?

I wrote about the grand opening of The Twisted Dish back in November.  Since then, they have reverted back to several of The Meteor menu items that disappeared during the change of hands.  The smoked ribs and pulled pork are back!

Atlantic Shores Bites The Dust

Atlantic Shores, the venerable swingers and gay motel on the ocean side of "Old Town", has finally bit the dust. Many are already mourning the passing of the afordable rooms and the beach bar with it's nude pool.  I guess all things eventually come to an end?
