Night Swordfishing in March

Calm night and cooperative fish . This Swordfish was just legal at 50". Heath , Jon and Andy manuvered all night for the "right rod" and Jon came up with the Sword. Andy caught a 350 lb "big brown shark" and Heath , well lets say Heath will move faster next trip.

Dr. Mom and Scott Need Your Help!

Fantasy Fest is coming upon Key West soon and Key West is readying for a fantastic blowout celebration!

Having fun is what Fantasy Fest is all about, however Dr. Mom (Sue Mauer, P.A.-C.) and Scott Briscoe are not just there for the festivities.  In fact, they have a bigger mission in mind and they need your help!

Taking their Ship of Fools around town, they are making it their goal during the Fantasy Fest celebration to raise money for AIDS Help, Inc. Not only do they want to raise money, they also want to have fun!

Dr. Mom and Captain Scott need you to help them raise money throughout the Fantasy Fest celebration.  All donations go directly to the clients of AIDS Help, Inc.  This means that nothing you give will go to staff or administration.  It goes only to those who need financial assistance with housing, medical reasons, clothing, food, and transportation.

If you are familiar with the organization, you may already know Captain Scott Briscoe has been volunteering his time to AIDS causes since the 1990s.  He was even named Volunteer of the year in 2004 by the organization.  Not only does Captain Scott put in his time and effort to AIDS charities, he also proudly captains the Blu Q, a gay owned and operated sailing catamaran in Key West.  If you want to see the bluer side of Key West, take a ride on the Blu Q!

Dr. Mom is a former firefighter/EMT turned physician assistant from Ohio.  She has made Key West her home for the past six years and spends hours working with cancer and AIDS patients each week.  As the founder of The North Coast Parrothead Club, she too has her hands full.

They will be all over Key West for the next few weeks, collecting donations and selling raffle tickets for giveaways. One of their most popular raffles is the $20 raffle for a $1000 Key West vacation for two!

A Ship of Fools with Dr Mom and Captain Scott is sailing across Key West giving away these fantastic vacations at these ultra low prices. The deal is, you purchase a $20 raffle ticket from A Ship of Fools, and if your ticket is pulled, you get the $1000 3 day vacation in Key West.  There are no questions asked, so you don’t have to tell a soul!  You can slip away with one of your family members or friends and enjoy this wonderful vacation without stress, should you win.

The best part is that a ticket is pulled every Sunday for one of the $1000 3 day vacations!  When you win, you and a guest will enjoy a three night stay at Cypress House (room for two), Dinner for two at Café Sole, a snorkel trip for two courtesy of Sunny Days, a Trails Of Margaritaville walking tour for two, drinks for two from Schooner Wharf, and a 30 minute photography session courtesy of Conch Concierge (cost of prints not included).  The total in prizes is more than $1000 and you can be eligible for a mere $20!

Hurricane Season Again in Key West

We live through this fear of demise by a huge storm every year.  We actually became somewhat complacent for years, until Wilma flooded our island in October 2005.  So we watch the National Hurricane Center reports with much more interest these days.

Tropical strom Fay is now meandering just below Cuba and expected to make a […]

FW: Fishing really Heats up 12/16/06

The winter fishing in Key West really took off this weekend with all our favorite fish showing up at the same time.Steve ,Justin,Jackie & Hutch caught Blackfin Tuna ,Wahoo ,Kingfish,Bonita and Sailfish all day Saturday.

Things started slow ( in the rain ) and by looking further offshore in 350 - 400 ft the tunas and Wahoo were solid . We let the cat out of the bag on the radio and the whole fleet had a good day.

Not a bad day at all , kind of makes up for some of the rough slow days of the past couple of weeks.

Key West

There’s nothing garden variety about Key West. Rules are set adrift here. Artists, street performers, sidewalk cafes, funky saloons and historic B&Bs take center stage. While jugglers, fire-eaters, mimes and acrobatic cats entertain revelers each evening during the sunset celebration at Mallory Square. Take a stroll through Old Town is literally a journey back in time. Gingerbread mansions cozy up to tin-roofed conch houses. Porch swings sway gently in the breeze. John Audubon House is here, as is Hemingway's home. Anglers and divers consider Key West nirvana, her crystal-clear waters holding untold bounty.

Key West Summertime Fishing In February

What do you know summer is early this year . Ed and Janine fished wth us this week and caught this 38# bull Dolphin along with a 20 # bull and a half dozen 5-6 # fish. On the way in we hooked a 350#+ Blue Marlin that stripped a TLD 25 faster than you can Imagine. I guess she didn't want to play but it was an awesome display of brute power.

A quick stop at the reef brought up the perfect balance for the "Surf and Surf" dinner - a very nice Grouper.
