I LOVE Key West!
When you ask most people in Key West why the love it so much, most of the will reply… "The Weather" and/or " The People". And there's good reason for that. Key West weather is incredible. With an average temperature of 80 degrees, what's not to love! The people are so laid back, they truly are some of the most loving, generous and giving people I have ever known. You'll be surprised when you ask someone for directions or a recommendation… if they can help ya the will… and happily! Try that in Manhattan!
But Key West has so much more to offer. The Pirate, The Poets, The Presidents, The Scoundrels, The History, The foliage, The Water Sports, The Theatre, THE FOOD, The drink, The laughter and the beautiful Sunset you've probably heard so much about! If you compare entertainment per square foot … I'll bet ya dollars to donuts that Key West has the most of any city in the nation… hands down.
I've been a fan of Key West for over 20 years, I've seen it go thorough it's changes, some good some not as good. But The Conchs (Key West Natives) are resilient. They can take a lickin and keep on tickin! They always pull through. They have to… who wants to leave paradise!
If you were to only come down and enjoy the fun in the sun, you will have an incredible time… but… you will have missed a lot. No problem, all ya have to do is come back. Key West has a ton to offer and a lot of the more special places are off the beaten path.
For instance…The Historic Seaport. Most people come to Key West for a week and never make it to the Seaport. It's a great example of Key West’s history! Just head down Greene Street past Sloppy Joes until ya get to the water, Make a right and stroll down the boardwalk, Keep your eyes open for Jimmy Buffet’s secret recording studio. Here's a hint… it's got stairs and has an ice machine net to it.
I started this site as a way for people like you to learn about Key West, Plan your trip, dream about the salt air blowin through your hair and the smell of Shrimp boiling in the air. Please comment, ask questions, tell me about your experience in Key West, Rate the attraction etc. This is for you. Enjoy yourself. I hope I meet ya in Key West!
Long live the Conch Republic!
